Will’s Truism #2

Crumbs will show up better on dark kitchen countertops. If you are OCD, get darker. If you are lazy, get lighter.

Lately, I’ve become an expert at wallowing in an inkling of materialism and selfcentered-ness; just long enough to convince myself of how unnecessary and inconvenient it is.

Dream: Escape from the Tsunami

I was on vacation with her and her family on some small Caribbean island that was owned by the French. We had a beachfront view, and as we were staring, from our second story balcony, at the surfers ride their glow-in-the-dark boards at night, we saw some huge waves coming in. The waves got larger and larger until finally they started to hit the first floor. I warned that this could be a tsunami coming in, and that we should evacuate. No one wanted to listen to me, so I just took her and my bike, and started riding inland. The water started catching up to us so I had to take a detour. It was one of the scariest moments of my dream life. I eventually rode through Toronto, couldn’t find my cousin’s house, and arrived in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, just in time for my high school reunion. 

Dream: Avatar-lantis

I just had a dream that I was a character in the sequel to Avatar. In this dream. I was exploring an underwater civilization similar to Atlantis. The inhabitants all looked like humans. I found myself captive to them, and during my escape, I whacked off a bunch of their heads with the end of a rifle. However, the heads started to grow back, but not onto the same bodies they were on before. With the heads swapped with their bodies, I assumed that the brain followed, thus the creature I was most afraid of was the one with the head that represented it. This was not the case. Apparently, the body was the indicator, not the head, as they did not have brains. The species subscribed to a groupthink method of a central brain located in their city center that they all “shared.” I knew then my mission was to sabotage this central brain, thus freeing myself from enslavement. This could be a riveting movie script. Or not.

…looking up at the night sky and knowing it’s the same sky you stared at in all the places you’ve lived and traveled.
